Talk about stickin' it to the man! J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, has outed one of her main characters in the books, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts! Rowling was speaking to a crowd at Carnegie Hall on Friday night when she revealed that Dumbledore was gay. Apparently, she said that Dumbledore fell in love with the wizard Gellert Grindelwald but when he turned out to be more interested in evil than good, Dumbledore went on to destroy his beloved rival. I love it!
Potentially the most effective gay rights event this year. Rowling takes a man who children and adults alike have grown to adore and then she flipped the script. But they can't dislike him now, just because he's gay-I mean he lets Harry get away with everything. I wish more people would use the spotlight to stand up for what they believe in. Preach it Rowling!
